International Women’s Day 2024

At Clive Christian Interiors we are lucky to work with an amazing team. We’re celebrating International Women’s Day this year by catching up with a few members of the team on everything from the best advice they’ve been given and their proudest achievements.

Christine, Private Client Manager

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

Listen to advice! And do what is right – not what is easy.

Who are the women that have inspired you in your career or in general?

My mum is someone who inspires me. She left Cyprus for the UK in the 70s aged 12 and pretty much started working right away! Eventually she met my father and together they ran a manufacturing business side by side. To be an independent working woman at this time was pretty trailblazing and she always encouraged me to do the same.

Can you share a significant achievement or milestone in your career that you’re proud of?

I am very proud of the fact that I took the decision to start up my own business as a young woman in a very male-dominated world at the time. I think I have done very well! When I opened my first showroom, I was the only female franchisee at Clive Christian. Now, working for Clive Christian directly as Private Client Manager for the past three years, is a role I am also very proud of.

What can we find you doing outside of work?

I took up horse riding five years ago and have a beautiful cob called Dublin. I ride her at least three times a week – more in the summer!

Pamela, Finance Director

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

Manners cost nothing. Treat others as you wish to be treated yourself.

Do you have any advice for women looking to get into the world of finance?

Go for it, you’re as good, if not better than the next man.

Who are the women that have inspired you in your career or in general?

Queen Elizabeth II. She stuck by her principles, she was intimidated by no-one, and she seldom put a foot wrong.

Can you share a significant achievement or milestone in your career that you’re proud of?

Gaining my Accountancy Qualification and being invited to be a Director of our company.

What can we find you doing outside of work?

I love going for long walks, especially with a group of friends, be it the countryside, the coast or even around a city, but preferably there is a picnic involved and one or two pubs enroute. I also enjoy cheering on the mighty LFC.

Tor, Marketing & Events Manager

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

You can only control the controllables. Focus your energy on things you can improve, influence, and actually do something about.

Who are the women that have inspired you in your career or in general?

Women who have started up businesses and run their own brands inspire me. Someone in particular is Jo Malone. The way she started her company, grew it into the iconic brand it is today, sold it and has now gone on to create a new brand Jo Loves, is an amazing story. Her podcast episode of ‘How I Built This’ is well worth a listen if you haven’t already.

Can you share a significant achievement or milestone in your career that you’re proud of?

Our work over the last year at Clive Christian. It has been a monumental year in terms of expansion for the company. We’re opening showrooms in Edinburgh, Los Angeles and of course our flagship townhouse in London.

What can we find you doing outside of work?

I’m running a Half Marathon later this year so weekends at the moment are focused on running!
